Safari Vacation

We’ll fly into Nairobi and spend our first night there to adjust to the time change. The next morning we’ll hop a small plane for a scenic flight over the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. This is one of the best places in Africa for wildlife viewing. When we land, a safari vehicle will be waiting to take us to our lodge right in the heart of the reserve.

For the next five days we’ll go out on game drives in the early morning and evening when animals are most active. I’m sure we’ll see lots of zebras, wildebeests, and antelope on the sweeping plains. But with luck we may spot lions, leopards, cheetahs and elephants too. Be sure to bring your camera and binoculars – it will be amazing to observe these creatures in their natural habitat up close. At night we can sit by the campfire and listen to the sounds of the African bush. Who knows, maybe we’ll hear hyenas calling in the distance!

After our time in the Mara, we’ll drive west to Lake Nakuru National Park. Here we hope to see flocks of flamingos that gather by the thousands on the shores of the lake. Be on the lookout too for colorful African birds like bee-eaters and hornbills in the trees. We’ll spend two nights at our lodge nestled beside the water. Then it’s back in the vehicle for a final wildlife area – the Masai-owned Amboseli National Reserve at the foot of snow-capped Kilimanjaro mountain. Gaze at the elephants roaming beneath Africa’s highest peak, it will be breathtaking.

By the time two weeks have passed, you’ll have seen more amazing natural wonders and animals than you ever imagined. We’ll end with a final night in Nairobi before flying home, but Kenya will forever remain in your heart.
