Serengeti Safari

The Serengeti National Park in Tanzania is one of the most iconic wildlife destinations in the world. A safari through the Serengeti is a truly memorable adventure where you will encounter incredible natural spectacles and see Africa’s most iconic animals in their natural habitat.

When visiting the Serengeti, the early mornings and late afternoons are the best times to spot wildlife as that is when many animals are most active. You will want to pack your bags with lots of bottled water, snacks, comfortable clothes and a hat as you will be spending many hours driving the dirt tracks of the park in an open-top safari vehicle. A good pair of binoculars is also essential to get good views of the wildlife without disturbing them.

As you drive through the Serengeti you will see vast herds of wildebeest and zebras dotting the golden savannah as far as the eye can see. You may come across prides of lions resting in the shade of acacia trees after a successful hunt or see a cheetah sprinting after its prey at incredible speeds. Keep your eyes peeled in the trees and you might glimpse colorful bird species like lilac-breasted rollers or hornbills.

The annual migration of over 1.3 million wildebeest and 200,000 zebras that gallops across the Serengeti is one of the most incredible natural phenomena on Earth. From December to June you can track the migration as the herds follow the rains moving between Tanzania and Kenya. Witnessing this gigantic mass movement of animals is breathtaking and something you will never forget.

After a day spent exploring the Serengeti plains, retreat to your comfortable camp or lodge as the sun sets over the savannah. As you relax with a cocktail and cookout around the campfire, you may be treated to a chorus of hippos grunting and lions roaring in the distance. Look up to see a sky full of glittering stars unlike any you have seen before. A safari in the Serengeti is a truly unforgettable African experience.
